Cal Ripkin, Boothbay Region Baseball and Lincoln Little League Information

This spring, kids interested in playing baseball and softball ages 9 -12, will have a new opportunity with the Cal Ripken baseball league.

For the past few years, our teams have had to play in a league that spans the ages of 9-12 on the same team. It is clear that there are physiological and psychological differences between a 9-year-old and a 12-year-old that present challenges to the proper development of a player on both ends of the scale.

Cal Ripken allows for 9-10-year-old team(s) and 11-12-year-old team(s). This will allow our players to develop in a more structured way because they will be playing against other teams of their own age.

Both the Boothbay region, and the Wiscasset area will be playing under the Cal Ripken League. This furthers our flexibility now and in the future. Under a Cal Ripken charter, the children of all towns will be able to be placed on competitively equitable teams regardless of physical address, school attendance, as well as player/parent preference, if rosters will allow for it.

Boothbay Region Baseball Association (BRBA), which not affiliated with Cal Ripken, will continue to offer fun and exciting programs for children ages 4-10.

Registration will be held in March for both Cal Ripken and BRBA programs.

Please contact Adam Harkins (Aharkins@mainegardens.org) or John Splaine at (207 751-4481 or Velonut1@myfairpoint.net) for more information. Sponsors, coaches and volunteers are always needed.
