Job Goal
To inspire and guide students in grades 9–12 through a dynamic, hands-on STEAM and Career Exploration program. The instructor will provide all students with foundational exposure to the skilled trades and design technology, helping them build practical life skills, bridge academic concepts with real-world, creative application and identify potential career pathways.
This position sits at the heart of our school's culture, utilizing a state-of-the-art makerspace and shop environment to engage students of all levels and interests.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience: Proven practical experience and a strong background in the trades, engineering, or design technology (e.g., carpentry, basic electricity, automotive, welding, or CAD/digital fabrication).
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred, but equivalent industry experience and training will be highly valued.
Mindset: Ability to work collaboratively with other academic teachers to build flexible, cross-curricular projects. A "maker mindset" that thrives in a creative, supportive learning environment.
Strong communication skills and a passion for mentoring young people from diverse backgrounds.
Certifications
Hold, or be eligible for, a Maine DOE 700 Certification (Technology Education/Industrial Arts) OR a CTE Instructor Endorsement in a related field. (Candidates open to pursuing a conditional CTE pathway through their trade experience are highly encouraged to apply).
Current Maine Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) fingerprinting approval.
Performance Responsibilities
Foundational Instruction: Teach the cornerstone "Intro to STEAM" course, providing comprehensive safety training, tool literacy, and design-thinking skills to all incoming students.
Hands-on Electives: Design and deliver engaging exploratory courses across diverse technical areas (such as carpentry, automotive basics, electrical concepts, and cutting-edge digital tools like CNC routers, 3D printers, and laser cutters).
Curriculum Design: Maintain a flexible, high-interest curriculum tailored to your personal strengths and the evolving interests of the student body.
Safety & Management: Maintain a highly organized, safe, and respectful shop and classroom environment.
Collaboration: Partner with Bath Tech and BRHS staff to align local programming with regional CTE pathways, participate in advisory meetings, and stay current on industry trends.
Differentiated Instruction: Adhere to individualized student plans and adapt teaching methods to accommodate and challenge students at all skill levels.

Salary range for this position is $50,010-$95,683 per the bargaining agreement
